We were interviewed by Lynsey Dolan of GCR digital radio on the topic of taxation, in particular the Universal Social Charge (USC). We were making the point that the tax is highly unpopular but very effective.
It’s nearly impossible to avoid USC by using standard tax avoidance measures and for that reason getting rid of this tax is of benefit in particular to the very well paid and the lower paid. For many lower paid it’s sometimes the only income related tax they pay, for the very well off they can’t escape from it. This is an important point and we discuss it at length in the interview.
